The
New York Philharmonic is paying a great deal of attention this season to the Italian avant-garde composer
Luciano Berio, who died in 2003. Last week
Lorin Maazel delivered a commanding account of “Sinfonia,” a tumultuous 1969 work for orchestra with amplified voices. Still ahead are performances of Berio’s “Folk Songs” (in March) and “Rendering” (in May).
