What he says at the end touches an important subject in live electronic music: should composers consider that "the program (max patch, or software for dedicated hardware platform) is the score", or should they write / describe the sound processing, so that later on it might be reproduce by different technological means? <br />Stockhausen insisted that Mantra (for 2 pianos & live electronic music) be performed using the hardware ring modulators he used when he composed it. Silly when a ring modulator is very easy to program on a laptop?
